Is an Online Education Right for You?
Keith Londrie II

Defined Tag:
We live in what is now called the "Information age".
Americans succeeded in coming through the industrial age with all the factories and problems that it brought, such as pollution.

Information at the speed of light is now a reality. We are so accustomed to having information quickly. The thought that countless numbers and facts and figures are easily found with a click or two.

This does vary among different people over the generations. It only makes simple sense that there are many people across the nation and around the world that are hanging on to the idea of online learning and educational opportunities online and offline.

The huge environment of online learning.

Concurrently there are an equal number of people from all walks of life trying hard top hold on to the traditional methods of dealing with different items. It is true that some people actually use a deck of playing cards to play solitaire when computer gaming is so prevalent.

For those of you who are older and have been left behind technology it is highly probable that online learning may prove to be more difficult. Below here you will find a set of a few questions that can surely help you narrow down whether or not you would truly gain by taking some of the many online courses that are being offered in today's new information age of learning

1) are you in control of your discipline?

This may seem like a weird question since we all think we are disciplined to a point.

And some are.

The problem is that when you are in charge of your own education you are using a little discipline.

You will need three things in order to pass the course including being able to meet deadlines, take the exams, and be responsible for learning the material. You have only yourself to blame if you do not manage to do well in your online classes and lack the drive to motivate and pace yourself and your way of learning.

2) How do you best learn?

We all have different techniques for learning and helping us to retain information usually better than other people.

Online courses are heavy on reading so if that is not a strong point for you then you may need to reconsider this way of learning. If you have troubl learning and retaining the information that you read you may need to find a different way of retaining the information or obtain solutions from the instructor before advancing in an online learning environment like you are interested in.

3) Do you really want to succeed?

You know the answer to this question is quite important in determining whether or not the method of online learning is best for you.

There are several ways you can take control of your desire and online education and degree.

This is not the path most followed yet but wait until later.

If you aren't determined to do the reading and assignments, to study your notes, and to really learn the material that is presented then you really do not need to waste your time or the instructor's time by continually making up excuses. Simply reevaluate your needs. Most of the online courses are self-paced but only to the point of learning a section of material before moving on to the next.

Once the teachers responsibility of giving you the information and material but it is up to you from that point on.

Are you ready to accept the responsibility that goes with that?

You can be a professional that is returning to school after a long absence, or a first time college student, online learning can open new opportunities. You need to be willing to take those opportunities when they present themselves and take the information that you are given that way to be successfully.

My dearest hope that that everyone who reads this will carefully depend on whether or not the lack of structure that many online courses provide will be conductive to your own ways of learning before jumping in head first.
